Just because summer is over it doesn’t mean the fun times have to come to an end. October is full of exciting events, activities and sights that you can only take part in during this time of year. Here is a list of some of the best things to do in the month of October! (You know, outside of the normal Pumpkin Spice Latte drinking and cozy outfit wearing).
Acadia National Park. Nothing gets you into the fall mood more than seeing the leaves change colors. Located in Maine and with 47,000 acres to explore people come from all over the United States to catch a glimpse of the beautiful scenery in this national park. Pack up your coats and scarves and become one with nature, or if you’re not outdoorsy staying in the car and driving through this fall foliage is just as nice.
Austin City Limits. If music is on your mind this October, then Austin City Limits is for you! Boasting more than 130 music acts with genres ranging from rock to country to pop, there is bound to be something for everyone. Held over two consecutive weekends, this music festival has quickly become one of the most popular in the United States.
Pumpkin House. Now this is definitely an event you can only partake in during the month of October. The famous Pumpkin House in Kenova, WV displays a staggering 3,000 hand carved pumpkins and attracts nearly 30,000 people every year! Now if this doesn’t get you in the October spirit, nothing will!
World’s Largest Corn Maze. Finding yourself near Spring Grove, IL? Well then you’re in luck, because they just so happen to be the home of the world’s LARGEST corn maze! Taking up 33 acres, this year’s maze is designed to celebrate the 200th anniversary of The Star Spangled Banner and includes 5 mazes with shapes such as a flag, a battleship and many more. But the fun doesn’t stop at the maze, they also have tons of family-fun activities including a pumpkin patch, hayrides and zip line.
Taste of DC. If you’re a foodie, then the month of October also has some great events for you! One of the best being the Taste of DC. Happening Columbus Day weekend this food festival features yummy items from more than 40 local restaurants as well also music and entertainment from local talent. On top of all of that the event partners with local organizations to promote healthy living with cooking demonstrations and nutritional presentations.
Now get out there and have a fabulous and fun October!
